Ongoing Research Projects

(1) Experiments

Triody

Based on my work on information processing in social networks, I launched an online community for local endurance sports athletes. It is called Team Triody.com and address three questions

  • What are the determinants of information exchange in online social networks?
  • What makes online social networks sustainable?
  • How, why and when do online social networks grow?

(2) Academic Research

Inspired from my interviews and interactions I had with firms, I am addressing the following research question: Why should firms invest into social networking software?

Abstract: This article scans the academic literature on the effects of information processing in social networks on individuals and organizational performance. Drawing on the literature review I develop policy recommendations with respect to the reasons why firms should or should not invest into social networking software as postulated by large software vendors. In so doing, this paper attempts to bridge the knowledge that is available among academic scholars and hopes to transfer it into managerial practice.
